It’s been a quiet couple of months down the coast for me, sadly – and by quiet, I mean I haven’t been out much.
I’ve had a handful of fish from some old favourite Dorset haunts, but nothing of note. With a busy year on the work and family front, it feels like I missed some of the best conditions of the spring. When I did get out either the tide, winds or weather were naff, so I can only hope the rest of the year has more to offer!

To remedy my current drought, I’ll be lurking around the salty stuff a bit more over the next few weeks – not necessarily chasing big wrasse, mind, but I’m hoping to tick off a few mini species on the LRF gear to start with. With today being the 16th of June, I needed no invitation to dust off my solid tipped HTO Tempest rod and dunk a few isome worms in my local canal this morning… A quick hour before work yielded two tiddler perch, which scratched a passing itch. Hopefully there’ll be plenty more species to follow.
I’m rarely one to wish the days away, but I’ll certainly be clock-watching this week – my body is in the office, but my mind is down the coast!
